Workstation Requirements

Operating System

• Windows 11 (all desktop editions, 64 bit)
• Windows 10 (all desktop editions, 32 or 64 bit)

Microsoft Office

Supported Microsoft Office versions (32-bit) for integration features and accounts production.

• Office 2021 (including installed Office 365)
• Office 2019 (including installed Office 365)
• Office 2016

For most customers, Troika currently requires Microsoft Office 32-bit for Accounts Production.  Where it is essential a customer uses Microsoft Office 64-bit internally, please refer to the following article for further guidance:

Microsoft Access

Troika requires workstations to have either the Microsoft Access Runtime, or have Microsoft Access installed as part of Microsoft Office. Versions supported include 2016 to 2021, and installed Office 365 for offline use. You can download and install it from here.

For an administrator and end-user support, a single workstation with fully installed Microsoft Access is required. This will be set with the Troika application to a runtime mode, by default.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Troika requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed. You can download and install it from here.

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2

Troika requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.5.2. Most workstations have the .NET Framework version 4.5.2 already installed. For those which don't, you can download and install it from here. 

Application HDD Available Space

1GB workstation HDD available space

Troika can also be installed on servers running Microsoft Terminal Services and published as an application within a Citrix server environment. Troika is continually passing large amounts of data between the application and SQL database, and therefore will require a local database server, rather than operating over a WAN/VPN connection. Troika and WealthWorks+ cannot be installed on Microsoft Server Essentials 2012 or any Foundation edition server.

Microsoft SQL Server

Express, Standard or Enterprise Editions are supported.

• Microsoft SQL 2016 (SP3) 13.0.6300.2 or later

Sufficient SQL Server CAL or processor licenses should be available. SQL Express is free to download and use; please review the Microsoft licensing terms. For SQL Express, the Advanced Services editions are required and the instance installation must include the feature 'Full Text Search' and Management Studio. The Troika SQL Utility must be installed when using SQL Express editions.

Minimum recommended 16GB RAM and larger user bases may require more resources. Microsoft memory requirements should be treated as an absolute minimum. SQL Server 'best practice' suggests there is adequate memory installed to enable all SQL databases to be cached in memory. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8

WealthWorks+ requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.8. You can download and install it from here. Without an internet connection, .NET Framework version 4.8 is provided within the installation media for WealthWorks+.

Additional Information and Settings

System Settings

• Regional Settings should be set to locale (English) United Kingdom for both the workstations and the server.
• The date format settings required on the workstations and server must be set to DD/MM/YY for the short format and DD/MM/YYYY for the long format, with slash separators. Please contact us to confirm other date formats are acceptable.
• Numeric values must use a full stop as the decimal symbol (some countries regional settings use a comma).
• The user interface is best viewed with screen 1600 x 900 resolution or greater, small fonts and high colour (16 bit or greater).

SQL Server Settings

• Troika and WealthWorks+ require a standard Windows Collation (Character Set & Sort Order).
  • SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
  • Latin1-General, case-insensitive, accent-sensitive, kanatype-insensitive, width-insensitive
• The SQL Server user account must have its default language set to English (not British English).
• The Troika SQL Database must have the option 'Auto Close' set to False.
• The Troika SQL Database 'Compatibility level' must be set to a minimum of 110.
